1st healthy meal I did NOT like!?

It finally happened!!! The first clean meal I did not like, but it looks pretty right?! A for effort?? But otherwise, πŸ˜¬πŸ˜³πŸ˜ there are a fair share of non-healthy things, but for the most part, most restaurants offer these kind of things...not sure what they're even called? Chai pudding? One things for sure... EVERYTHING has coconut in it here. I have such an odd allergy 😰

Matthew got Dutch baby pancakes with the best bacon I have had in 39 yrs!! I may have tried to switch him. You can guess how that went. I mean, "might" have gone πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Australian shabu shabu

This was dinner last night πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Matthew (or I) have been falling asleep around 5/6 pm every night. I know - party animalπŸ™‹πŸΌπŸ™‹πŸΌπŸ™‹πŸΌ I'll nap today so I can make it through date night (goal is at least 8pm) πŸ‘πŸ» 

This is called Shabu Shabu (Japanese) and amazingly fun, delicious and kid-friendly (assuming they're awake for it). Matthew cost us $22 and slept the whole timeπŸ˜¬πŸ™„ 

Sushi bar, tempura bar, salad bar, and soup bar. My portions look huge, but those were all bulky mussels below it, shrimp and calamari.  A I tossed all the rice under my sushi to save space in my tummy πŸ˜‰ yummmmy!

First date night in Australia!

I could get used to all these dates with this guy!! Sushi lunch yesterday and sushi dinner tonight ❀️❀️ might have hit up a wine and dessert bar afterwards to watch a big rugby match. Truth - I like rugby better than football. It's so much easier to understand and I love how short it is πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ™‹πŸΌlol. 

Anyone else think Travis is looking like a lean mean fighting machine?!? πŸ˜‚He lost 15 lbs since I saw him by working out 3 days a week and drinking Shakeology every day. Took him a year to see what I love about it and be that consistent, but now I'm complaining the blender is too loud. First lunch date down under!

First lunch date with hubby since 2016!! I'd say it was long overdue!! LOL. 

I'm in heaven in Australia. There is sushi and chocolatiers every direction I turn. Now just add in wine and I'll move tomorrow. It is fun being a tourist here!! I was so into the food I forgot to snap a pic of us, oops!  

And for once...reasonably priced. Guess I'll have to give up on veggies and just eat sushi. Even the soy sauce is cute!

1st breakfast in Australia

My family's 1st breakfast down under. Couldn't be more different πŸ˜‚ usually I make one thing, but they lucked out with mommy. Totally out of it, so doing whatever they asked πŸ™ŒπŸ» 
βœ… Matthew wanted Shakeology and I couldn't figure out the blender so he got Shakeology brownie recipe + 1/2 banana, 
βœ… Tyler slept too late to get a choice so I made smiley face of English Muffin & 1/2 banana

We made it!

He's always been hot to me. But this picture. This moment. We are all together again for first time in 6 months and it feels so good. Boys went SPRINTING towards him.

But for now, its 5:45pm and I'm going to bed because I fell asleep AT THE TABLE at a restaurant earlier. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. My village rocks!!

Air New Zealand - inflight service

15 hours. We survived leg one. I. Am. Beat. But thank goodness for Sky Couch, unlimited movies and free New Zealand wines. They even do wine tastings on the plane. Sorry Southwest, but I am an Air New Zealand fan. Didn't have to twist my arm for mimosas after a long night. 

Pretty decent kids meal right? I chose Gluten Intolerance thinking it would be healthiest, and then had Matthew's chocolate mousse cake. Hey - you snooze, you lose πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚

Traveled with the Brisbane Lions Rugby Team which was exciting.

Paleo Double Chocolate Gooey Cake

For the brownie layer

1 C almond meal
1/2 tsp baking powder
Pinch of sea salt
2 TBSP coconut oil
1 TBSP honey
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 C chocolate chips, melted in microwave
1 TBSP chia seeds

For the cookie dough layer

1 cup almond meal
Pinch sea salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
3 oz plain applesauce
1/4 cup chocolate chips
1/4 cup coconut sugar (or brown sugar)

End of summer party treats!

True story (why do I always feel the need to say that?? it's so annoying, but for some reason I think no one believes me, that KIDS DIG SHAKEOLOGY!!!) For regular meals I enforce the motto, "eat it or starve" but not with shakeology because I am not in the business of giving it away. If they fight or tattle (insert loud sigh and eye roll) NO ONE gets Shakeology...but ME :) 

Anyhow, back to this post...If you've been following me on Facebook, you know I throw a bus stop party the last weekday before any holiday, and on any kids birthday on our street. That's how we build community with our Grace Table from the church. I made this Shakeology Brownie Batter snack the other day and Tyler asked if I could serve this at the bus stop for our going away party (yes, we are throwing ourselves an "end of 2nd grade and Vinings leaving for the summer" party :) ) I had to die laughing. I don't think I'm cheap, but I'm not serving this to 10-12 kids :( I know "sharing is caring" and stuff, but this is ALL MINE :) 

Instead, I'll serve my 21-day fix pumpkin muffins which I've seen challengers serve as birthday cupcakes for their kids parties, Mom's Nights Out and holiday celebrations. How awesome that it's one of our breakfast staples that fills so many different needs. I can't wait, and I'd be lying if I didn't wish it was tomorrow, just so I can have one now. here’s the recipe!

Don't skip breakfast!

Always eat breakfast to jumpstart your metabolism and drink 24 oz of water first thing in the morning if you can too.  Water makes you fuller faster too, so if you have this first thing, you will mindlessly snack less.  (or in theory you should unless you're eating from boredom)

You'd be amazed that if you focus on getting your water in first thing, it's much easier to get your necessary quantity in before the end of the day.  Plus, you aren't drinking right up till bedtime and then peeing all night.  Water is my biggest struggle.  

How to eat well; while traveling!

It is so hard to take vacation from our daily life and not take "vacation" from our diets too, but that doesn't have to be the case.  Someone once said to me, "Why are all our memories wrapped around food?" and it's a good point.  When I think about San Diego, I think about VG's Donuts, Fish 101's fish platter w/ Lola Pinot Noir (highly recommend), Pipes Cafe's Avocado Sausage scrambler, and the list goes on.  Do you know they estimate the average American GAINS 15 POUNDS on a 10 DAY CRUISE!??!  

And business trips aren't exempt from weight gain either!  When enjoying continental breakfasts at hotels, try grabbing fruit, egg white omelet with veggies, protein and half the amount of cheese they'd normally use.  Skip the pastries, bread, sugar ladened yogurts and juice, All that sugar will make you crash later and just adds to the fight against cellulite.  

Here are some good choices you can make at fast food restaurants while on road trips.  My favorites are Chick-Fil-A and Panera Bread.  Their salads are filling and delicious. 

Clean popsicles

πŸ’•I loved having Popsicles when I was sick when I was little. Now as an adult when I'm reading the ingredients, it's hard finding clean ones. These are rated (B-) in Fooducate so I will take that for a splurge. Every box I picked up had high fructose corn syrup. πŸ˜” these don't so that's a win. Kid approved and they smell so good
